Jay Freebery – Co-Founder & Broker of Record
Jay Freebery is President and Co-Founder of Sterling Real Estate. Mr. Freebery has over 12 years experience in underwriting, acquiring, repositioning, managing, refinancing, and exiting single-family housing assets. Prior to co-founding Sterling, Mr. Freebery served as the Director of Asset Management for Brandywine Realty Management. In this capacity, Mr. Freebery was responsible for managing all leasing and capital improvements on Brandywine’s 300+ single-family housing portfolio.
Prior to joining Brandywine Realty Management, Mr. Freebery was a manager in the Land Use and Code Enforcement departments of New Castle County. In this capacity, Mr. Freebery had responsibility for a team of building inspectors and oversaw the approval of over $ 1 billion, and the construction of over $250 million of real estate projects.
Mr. Freebery is also a Principal at Chatham Bay Group and Co-Founder and President of Chatham Bay Construction Services, a full service construction management company headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware.
Additionally, Mr. Freebery is a Director and Vice President of the Chatham Bay Foundation, a public non-profit organization created to promote conservation of the marine environment. The foundation funds and manages a program in conjunction with the Department of the Army and the Walter Reed Army Hospital to teach scuba diving to wounded soldiers returning home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of their therapy and rehabilitation.
Mr. Freebery earned his bachelor of science from the University of Tampa and his M.B.A. from Wilmington University. He is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Delaware and a member of the Urban Land Institute.
